LNHSEC is an annual extracurricular entrepreneurial Program for Liberian High School Students which seeks to identify potential high school entrepreneurs, equip them with the relevant skills to shape their ideas into innovative and sustainable business solutions to pressing problems in Liberia. The program aims to expose and match these young people to opportunities that scale up their ventures.
The Diamond Challenge is a global entrepreneurship concept competition hosted by the University of Delaware, USA. The program nurtures high school students to develop ideas into innovative businesses that address community problems, generating income for themselves and their families, and contributes to the economic growth of their countries. Activities in the nurturing session include problem and solution framing, idea generation, and developing sales pitches.
In 2017, the University of Delaware vetted and selected as official pitch site partner in Liberia, YONER Liberia. YONER Liberia is grateful for the recommendation of the US Department of State’s Office for Global Innovation through Science & Technology (GIST) Initiative.
Also known as Diamond Challenge focuses to strengthening and sustaining relations and understanding between American and Liberian high school students and education stakeholders. It also enhances access to information, knowledge sharing on entrepreneurship, youth empowerment, and technology transfer that are mutually beneficial to Liberia and the United States of America through the University of Delaware, as well as with students of other nations who participate in the competition globally. In addition, our program directly aligns and supports the following U.S. Embassy Monrovia’s and / or U.S. Department of State’s Priority Program Areas:
- Increasing the capacity of Liberians to lead the country’s development and self-sustenance
- Bolstering Education at all levels, with focus at high school level
- Fostering an inclusive economic development and improving Liberia’s human development.
