Finance Associate

Reports to: Director of Administration

About YONER

YONER Liberia is a Liberian social enterprise and a full-fletched youth-focused, social, educational, entrepreneurial development, environmental conservation advocacy and tech-education learning accelerator reimagining education and employability through social entrepreneurship, higher education management and tech innovation.  Founded in 2008 to rehabilitate and reunite child soldiers of Liberia’s civil war with their families and reintegrate them back into their communities.

Purpose of the job:

YONER is currently looking for a self-motivated, independent and self-driven person to support the function of the Accounting and Reporting Department by autonomously handling complex tasks in the areas of accounting and financial information management.

Duties:

  • Assists in financial planning, execution and reporting and the management of daily working capital: cash, Payables, receivables, for the project;
  • Creates and maintains monthly payroll registers and ensures that employees are paid on time; through Bank account, payments of statutory deductions such as NASSCORP contributions, withholding tax to Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) etc and ensure the same are captured correctly in the accounting system
  • Prepare Financial forecasting along with the Annual budget
  • Conduct Quality check of monthly cost with budget line
  • Monthly check of treasury-related manual bookings
  • Knowledgeable able reconciliation
  • Ensure effective payments of monthly salary of YONER program staff
  • Assists in preparing monthly, quarterly, annual financial reports/statements for the Chief Executive Officer, and submission to donors, partners, and stakeholders;
  • Assists in Procuring in materials, resources, and compliances, including conducting and preparing timely vendors due diligence, request, orders, vouchers, and payment for the project;
  • Assists with timely donors reporting and manage clients invoicing and completion of Project Milestone;
  • Assists in budget management and confirmation including ensuring purchase and hiring request are in line donors and clients’ budgets;
  • Supports in reviewing quarterly and annual accounts closure for financial statement and reporting.

Qualifications and Experience:

  1. At least a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, or other relevant discipline.
  2. At least one year experience working in a reputable institution or company in similar function
  3. High knowledge of Microsoft word, Excel, etc.

Experience and skills

  1. Minimum 1 year of work experience within a recognized institution as finance officer or casher.
  2. Work experience in NGO and INGO or experience working in a reputable institution or company in similar function is a plus.
  3. Excellent ability to investigate, analyze and create reports
  4. Professional work relationship with all team members – Excellent ability to investigate, analyze and create reports – Ability to coach, motivate a team.
  5. High integrity (Corrupt FREE)
